The Henson Gallery launches Southam Amateur Artist of the Year 2019

The Henson Gallery is launching a competition for amateur artists in Southam and surrounding villages. You’ll have the whole summer to produce your best work and have a chance to win a top prize worth over £200. There will also be prizes for second and third place.

Entries for the competition must be submitted by October 31 2019 either to the gallery in person or by email with a high resolution image. Entries must be accompanied with details of the entrant. The originals of winning entries must be available for viewing in the gallery for a minimum of one month following judging without any restriction of copyright regarding publicity. Entries remain the property of the entrant. All entries must have been produced after May 15 2109.

All entries will be displayed on the Henson Gallery Facebook page and also, where appropriate, on other local Facebook pages, and the number of ‘likes’ for any particular entry will be taken into consideration when judging takes place. A judging panel will be appointed by the Henson Gallery and their decision will be final.

First, second and third prizes will be awarded with further highly commended awards at the discretion of the Henson Gallery.

Minimum size must be A4 or more. Maximum size must be no more than A1 (or imperial equivalents).
Materials used can be in any recognised art medium on any stock, including paper, canvas, or board etc.

Entrants must be aged 18 or over on or by the closing date of October 31.

Entrants must be amateur artists who do not make any substantial income from their work .

Entrants should live in the area and no more than 8 miles from Southam town.

Artwork may be of any subject (landscape, portrait, figure, abstract etc.) but must not contain any image that could be considered offensive by the organisers. Tasteful nudity is acceptable.
